mission statement
The CLASS Aquatics Swimming Team philosophy is built on the basis
of personal responsibility, determination and discipline. New swimmers
are taught the fundamentals with positive reinforcement. While advanced
swimmers are encouraged to set high goals and expected to invest
the time and effort required to achieve those goals. Our coaches
provide guidance and support along the way.
Technique is the highest priority for all groups. Conditioning
increases with each group, but practices are based upon content
not yardage. Practices are held year-round so swimmers are able
to continue to train and compete.
The concept of group and team well being is an inherent factor
in our club activities and routines. All of our swimmers are encouraged
to respect and appreciate their teammates, coaches, families and
competitors. It is the responsibility of the coaches, swimmers,
and parents to maintain an environment that gives everyone the opportunity
to succeed.
Each member of our coaching staff is certified by USA Swimming.
Their primary goal is to provide a fun, safe, and productive environment
for all swimmers to learn in.
team history
Since its formation over twenty years ago, CLASS Aquatics has established
a tradition of providing a quality youth swim program for children
of all ages and abilities. Several Olympians, dozens of National
Championship qualifiers, and countless Junior Championship qualifiers
have grown up through the program.
Since it was a relatively small team at the time, CLASS Aquatics
wanted to provided improved competitive opportunities for all levels
of swimmers. In May 1997 CLASS Aquatics and Crest Swimming merged
to form CLASS-Crest Associated Team, more commonly known as CCAT
Swimming. In August 1998, Maverick Swimming, located in Simi Valley,
joined the program changing the name to Combined Competitive Aquatic
Team. With programs in Calabasas, Tarzana, Northridge, Sherman Oaks,
Camarillo, and Culver City, CCAT Swimming reached a high of over
400 registered swimmers. In October 2001, the programs from Camarillo
and Calabasas combined at a new site, Oaks Christian High School
in Westlake Village. With a beautiful new facility, a 25-yard by
50-meter pool, the team finally had a place to build and develop
for the future.
Even though they shared a common competitive name, the two original
teams that formed CCAT Swimming remained separated in nearly all
other aspects of running a team including staff, pool rental, and
scheduling. In August 2002, because the needs of the two groups
had become more diverse during the previous year, CLASS Aquatics
left CCAT Swimming and once again stands as its own team.
As a member of USA Swimming, CLASS Aquatics is dedicated to teaching
and promoting competitive swimming. The team operates throughout
the year with practices and competitions for all year-round members
as well as seasonal programs for novice and beginning level swimmers.
Currently, CLASS Aquatics operates at the following pools:
